Broken links

Has anyone had problems with displaying a bloglist since Blogger's latest changes to the formatting process?

Settings chosen, but not showing

I follow a lot of blogs and have included most of them in my reading list. A few weeks ago I tried to add a new one and found that it would not save. It was the first time that I noticed the new interface to edit a blog list (image above).

I thought the problem may have been to do with some limit to the number allowed in a list, so I decided to create a separate list of non-active links (sadly, there were quite a few). This I did using the new interface. I selected only to see the title of the blog and date last updated, but this was not shown for all blogs (even blogspot blogs—Wordpress blogs have never shown such info.). I should have been suspicious then.

I then deleted the blogs from my longer reading list, but still could not add items. For a while I was able to edit the list via the tool icon on my blog page, but this stopped working, so I recreated the list from scratch. Now, despite having made the selections to show icon, snippet, thumbnail and date of last update, only the blog titles are showing. Frustrating.

Can anyone suggest a work around please?

  1. Hi James, I just added a blog I recently started to follow OK. The only difference I have is I don't have the snippet of blogs switched on. Regards, Peter

    1. Thanks Peter. I turned off the snippet and got the icon back, but not the title nor the date of last update.

  2. James, on the Configure Blog List page shown above, scroll ALL of the way to the last entry in your list. You should see, ADD NEW ITEM after the last entry. Click on this to add another blog entry.

    1. Thanks Jonathan. That bit is working well and in fact is a bit improvement as you can enter a few letters of the name and the blog/various blogs from the reading list come up. *That* bit is a big improvement.
